Talking about money can feel icky but we’re having a fun conversation filled with lotto dreams, ideas of success, quirky spending habits, feeling rich, and proposing our own trade system. What does money mean to you? Is it a means to an end or something to possess? No wrong answers. This really is a fun conversation about money and what it represents; we even had to cut out some hysterical, awkward laughter.
In this episode:
• Misty read a question and all of the sudden we’re talking about money and what it means.
• We’ve come up with new classifications for rich and consider offering T-shirts for sale.
• Randy claims that Misty married him because of something to do with the feng shui of the living room. Well, at least that’s how that rabbit trail ended.
• If you visit, Misty promises to keep him on a leash and limit his pillow fluffing until you leave.
• If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, you need to examine your relationship with money.
• What do you value and are you living according to those values?
• Big Spenders vs. Spendthrifts – can make for some marital friction.
• Would you rather have an extra $200 a day, or an extra 2 hours a day?
• Randy’s lottery dreams may include a sensible 7-bedroom house.
• You don’t have to be filthy rich to have peacocks. Just in case you didn’t know.
• Misty would trick out the Regional Food Bank and build a huge studio to play creatively.
• Misty would feel super rich if she could generously give away wads of cash; but being able to give time, talent, earned wisdom, and encouragement is pretty awesome, too.
• Inspired by Braid Creative, we explore what riches, wealth, and success look like for us.
• It seems like we’re on a mission to mention Jamie Cullum in as many episodes as we can.
• Travelthon – is this a thing? Randy makes up so many words.
• When we get rich, should we hire an ugly nanny or go for a manny?
• Success means something Misty isn’t sure she can pronounce correctly.
• Living according to our own dreams and expectations allows us to decide where our happy meter sits.
• Our kids worry if we’re poor.
• Misty’s favorite purchase is how we brought a bit of the vacation lifestyle home.
• Chicken sandwich. Kirby vacuums. Suckers.
• Randy loves a nice timepiece and Misty has champagne taste – sometimes on a beer budget.
• Misty shares what she would never feel comfortable spending a lot of money on… unless maybe she was Oprah-rich.
• Thinking of money as energy makes it feel a bit less “ick”.
• Misty wants to experiment with how much she can trade for without money. She already has a list of what she would trade for… edible garden guru?
• Money can feel scarce. But if you think about it as a source of energy and what you have to offer and finding other people who want to trade for what you have, it’s kind of exciting.
• What resources do you need to live the life you want to live?
• We would love to know about your favorite resources for teaching kids about money. Share please.
